Be a voice, not an echo.
VoCAL, Voice with CAL, gathers elite and dynamic voices to share their successful and refreshing stories in our series of talks. Initiated by students, VoCAL aims at providing students an inspiring experience and more importantly, a platform to exchange exciting ideas and vision. We believe that through interactive sharing with our speakers, students will be encouraged to think out of box and pursue their dreams with faith.
We aspire to inspire with enlightening talks and a platform to voice.
The first VoCAL mini sharing was successfully held on April 15th by guest student speakers, Hamza Zia and Jenny Kang about their project, RadiuX and Parle. As a winning team of Hackathon @HKUST, they shared with us their valuable experience. Hackathon @ HKUST is a 24 hour-coding event for all university students to realize their ideas. They stood out from the competition with their innovative app, Radiux.
“We were introduced to CityU Apps Lab and VoCAL sessions through Rex when we met him at HackUST. HKUST students live in a disconnected community, so it was our first time sharing our projects outside of our university, and overall it was a great experience! The audience was small but incredibly engaging. We received tons of insightful questions and comments throughout our presentation related to technology and approach to launching our ideas into the market. Will be looking forward to join future events organised by App Labs!” shared by HAMZA, DEVELOPER OF RADIUX
“It was a very exciting opportunity to visit and meet the people behind CityU Apps Lab. In fact, this was my first time visiting CityU. We really enjoyed sharing about our projects Radiux and Parle and equally enjoyed getting feedback from CAL’s members. It was very helpful to receive constructive criticism as well as complements to our idea and implementation plan. We really hope to further develop our projects and believe that comments from Apps Lab members would surely be a major plus for us. Overall, I learned a lot from the event and look forward for future events by Apps Lab!” shared by JENNY, BUSINESS MANAGER OF RADIUX
In the coming future, more Hack@HKUST teams will come over to share their projects too.
