Visit to The Wave – A diversified innovation hub and co-working space for young entrepreneurs
“I hope that the entrepreneurs that we are now co-operating with could receive more substantial support from the specialists, like comments on the arrangement of financial plans, or training for staff.” Said Stan, the leader of The Wave. He believes that the weaknesses of the entrepreneurs could be reflected and overcame through co-operating with one another, which matches the slogan on the gate of The Wave – “Beyond Limits”.
On 13 June 2016, CityU Apps Lab (CAL) has organized a visit to The Wave, the latest co-working space located in Kwun Tung. It is a multi-functional retail platform which also serves as a business center, seminar and event space. The diversified innovation business hub is built with fashionable and fancy design which is suitable for young entrepreneurs to develop their start-up businesses, or even finding new partners, too.
The delightful and comfortable co-working space definitely enhances the working performance of the young entrepreneurs who established their offices there. Through having some free regular workshops here at The Wave, like Hour of Code by CAL, the entrepreneurs could also enhance their soft skills by meeting and exchanging insights with outside guests.
From the tour of The Wave at different floors, our participants could fully understand how this captivating environment can inspire the entrepreneurs with new ideas. Not only the center provides an engaging working environment, it also provides a good space for entertainment. The entrepreneurs could relief their stress after using the entertaining facilities like boxing equipment and the table football. Relaxation is an important element for entrepreneurs to generate more innovative ideas for their future development in business.
Some entrepreneurs are invited to give sharing on their experience of kick-starting their business at The Wave after touring. Carol, a CityU alumni and the representative of Pinkoi (an online shopping platform), has introduced the establishment of HK office of Pinkoi and explained why they set up their office at The Wave. One of the main reasons is they did not need to worry about the problems of furniture and decoration of their office. All of their offices outside Hong Kong are also established in co-working spaces. “It is more flexible to set up our office at the co-working spaces. In addition, we always organize workshops for our designers. It is convenient for them to come here, as the location of The Wave is highly accessible. The decent environment also enhances the performance of our staff.”
The fruitful experience of touring around The Wave offered a useful reference to our CAL members who are interested in being entrepreneurs in the future. By using “The Wave Pass” offered by the center, they could experience more at The Wave on their own later.
